Snapshots: Anastasia Karkotskaya1 min read
Native to the city of Nizhnekamsk, Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, Anastasia Karkotskaya has spent most of her adult life in Saint Petersburg. Originally a student of history, she is currently writing her Master’s thesis about cinema in the former Soviet republics during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Karkotskaya’s relationship to photography lies in her imagery; it is inspired not only by cinema and literature, but also by nostalgia and personal memories. Through the lens of her smartphone, her photography is a way for her to express herself and her feelings when words fail to do so. Below are a few pieces depicting friendships and different places between the years of 2013-2018.
