Who are we?

Lossi 36 is an online media project founded in 2018 with the mandate to provide engaging, well-researched content about Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. We have since published almost 500 articles, some of which have been republished by media platforms like New Eastern Europe, Kafkadesk, and Voices on Central Asia, or selected for archivation by institutions like the Harvard College Library.  As a small organization founded by students and run on a volunteer basis, we are committed to providing high-quality content while shining a spotlight on the work of students and up-and-coming professionals.

Who are we looking for?

We think that you are a well-organized and self-sufficient person with a passion for sharing stories from Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. We believe that you are knowledgeable about the political and social fabric of the abovementioned regions and that based on this knowledge, you can determine and guide the look and feel of Lossi 36, making well-grounded decisions on what to publish. Additionally, we are looking for someone who, together with the deputy editor-in-chief can lead and delegate work between a team of editors. You will be responsible for overseeing the publication’s operations and policies.

We prefer it if you have previous experience writing and editing text and if you are from or have lived in one of our focus regions. Your level of English should be proficient – and it is a plus if you speak any of the other regional languages. Though not a must, previous experience in using WordPress, Trello, and Google Drive is welcomed.

Why join Lossi 36?

We offer you an opportunity to build and enhance your skills in editing, writing, and leading a team – as well as in small-scale media production. You will get the chance to be a part of a diverse and dynamic team engaged in raising voices from and for a region that is seldom covered by mainstream media.

  • Develop and grow your skills
  • A broader and international network
  • A chance to implement your ideas and projects
How do I apply?

Apply by filling out this form

Lossi 36 is run on a volunteer basis, thus this is an unpaid position.
