Statement from Lossi 36 condemning the ongoing war in Ukraine:

As an organisation that seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the post-communist world, we at Lossi 36 wish to express our strong condemnation of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and call for its end.

Since its founding, Lossi 36 has strived to shine a light on the diverse experiences of those living in Southeastern, Central, and Eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Given our close ties to the regions in focus, many of us have built strong relationships and attachments to these countries and their people. Furthermore, we have always sought to highlight voices from these regions through our many contributors.

As such, we feel it is now more important than ever for us to continue to provide a channel for open dialogue in resistance to this appalling act of violence from the Russian government. In particular, we wish to spotlight Ukrainian voices during this extremely difficult time, but also express support for those in Russia and Belarus who are equally distressed by this military aggression carried out in their names.

All at Lossi 36 are devastated and gravely concerned for the many lives that are and will be affected by this war and stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, who have shown immense resilience in this attack on the freedom of not only their own country but also the entirety of Europe.
